Scholarships and financial aid

If you’re looking for scholarships or financial aid to fund your study in Australia, you may find the following list helpful. MABECS Global education advisors have carefully curated this list to include only scholarships that are applicable for Malaysian students. Take note that every scholarship may have different eligibility requirements.

1. Destination Australia Program (DAP)

The Destination Australia Program is the Australian Government’s new mobility program for domestic and international students to study in regional Australia. Over 1000 scholarships will be available each year to support both domestic and international students studying at regional campus locations in qualifications from a Certification IV level and above. Australian tertiary institutions will be able to apply for scholarships of up to AUD$15,000 per student, per year.1 To find out more on application closing dates and how to apply, visit the Destination Australia website.

2. Australian Government Research Training Programme (RTP)

From 1 January 2017, the Research Training Program (RTP) replaced the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) program.1 The RTP is a single flexible pool of funding to support both domestic and overseas students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees.2 Find out more about the Research Training Program at the Department of Education website. Applications for these scholarships are made directly to a participating university.1

3. Scholarships offered by Australian universities

Since there are 43 universities in Australia, it is not possible to list down the available scholarships in a single page and update them regularly. The best and most accurate way to find out the scholarship information for each university is to visit their website directly. The requirements and scholarship offer amount would change every year, so it is advisable to check the updated information on the university websites closer to your intake. Visit our list of all Australian universities and their websites.

4. Scholarship search engine by Study in Australia

Study in Australia, the Australia Government’s official resource for international students, has a search engine for you to filter scholarships according to categories such as field of education, organisation name or scholarship location. Visit this link to search for scholarships directly.
